Frequently Asked Questions

How much does it cost to hire a skip/hook bin?

The cost of hiring a skip/hook bin depends on the size bin you are after, your location, and the type of waste going inside the bin.

Here at Retrac Skips, we have a range of skip bin sizes ranging from a size 2, 3, 4, 7 & 8.5 and a range of hook bin sizes ranging from a size 11, 15, 20 & 30.

We have 7 rates that we work with - light (general/commercial), medium (construction waste), mixed heavy waste, clean (concrete/bricks or dirt), clean green waste, QLD certified benchtops (0% silica), and scrap metal. Check out our "Waste Types" tab to find out which waste type will best suit your project.

The price also depends on the location that the bin is being delivered to. Our standard pricing listed on our website refers to our 'Zone L' rate which is our local Gold Coast area. We also deliver bins further from this area for an additional cost under our 'Zone K' (an additional $90.00) and our 'Zone T' (an additional $125.00) rates. Feel free to use our quote generator on our 'Home Page' to find out what zone your address will fall under and what the total cost will be of the skip bin you are after or you can give us a call on 55289011 and one of our friendly team members will be able to assist you.

What rubbish can I put inside a skip/hook bin?

Here at Retrac Skips, we accept all residential and commercial waste, aside from our listed “restricted items” (asbestos, bagged concrete powder, large amounts of astro tur or rubber flooring, tyres, wet paint, oils, gas bottles, flammables, chemicals of any kind and food waste).

We have 7 different rates that we work with based on your waste type, meaning you can select the best rate possible for your project. Check out our 'Waste Types" tab to find out which waste type will best suit your project or feel free to give us a call on 55289011 and one of our friendly team members will be able to assist you.

How long can I keep a skip/hook bin onsite for?

The cost of our bins include up to 14 days hire. If you would like to extend your hire, give us a call on 55289011. Additional rates of $15 per day for skip bins and $30 per day for hook bins may apply on our discretion.

Can you do same-day deliveries?

Usually, as long as you call by 10am we can deliver/collect your bin the same day. However, this is dependent on staffing and job volume on that particular day.

We do say to try and give us at least 24 hours notice if possible, but we do understand the nature of the building industry and that last minute things can come up. Just give us a call on 55289011 and we can let you know what we can do for you.

Do you automatically pick up my bin after the 14-day hire period?

No, we don't automatically pick up your bin after the 14-day hire period. We usually wait for you to call us once the bin is full and ready for pick up before picking it up.

We may try and get in contact with you after the 14-day hire period to see if we can organise a pickup date. If you need the bin for longer we may charge an additional hire fee. This is usually $15 per day for skip bins and $30 per day for hook bins.

Can I bring rubbish direct to your transfer station if I have a ute, truck or trailer?

We now allow our customers to drop their waste direct to our transfer station at 24 Gibbs Street, Arundel. If you have a trailer, ute or truck you can save money on a skip bin by dropping your waste direct to our yard.

Our transfer station is open Monday to Friday 6am until 4pm. Check out our rates under our “Weighbridge” tab.

Can I use your weighbridge to weigh my vehicle or caravan?

We have a licenced commercial weighbridge at our transfer station located at 24 Gibbs Street, Arundel. We allow members of the public to use our weighbridge to weigh their personal items such as their vehicle or caravan for a fee of $35.00. Our weighbridge is open Monday to Friday 6am until 4pm.

Use of the weighbridge is for personal use only (we cannot provide certificates for registration purposes).

What happens with my waste from my skip/hook bin once collected?

Here at Retrac, we are committed to stopping as much waste as we can from going to landfill and recycle majority of the rubbish we recover at our transfer station.

After our driver picks up your skip/hook bin it is brought back to our transfer station whereby it is sorted and separated into recyclable materials (e.g. concrete, soil, metals, rubble, gyprock, green waste etc.) Whatever materials can be recycled are taken to specialist recycling facilities. Any materials that cannot be recycled are sent to landfill.

For the last few years, the team at Retrac Skips have consistently stopped over 70% of recovered waste from going to landfill each year through our recycling methods.
